King Europe is a secondary character who represents the European Union. He sometimes stands in for other European collectives, such as the League of Nations in "Make a good impression," and he was the compère for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in "The Winner Is." His member nations are generally happy with his governance, but outsiders see him as annoyingly smug and pushy, He is convinced of his own superiority and loves to boast about his good qualities. He is also an outrageous flirt, especially when trying to convince Norway to join him. Norway isn't having any of it, however. He works for the benefit of his members, though he sometimes ignores the happiness of one so that another can live better, as he does in 'Make a good impression'. His personality is complex, and although he isn't a particularly kind person he is far from cruel and mean. He does, however, act like an outright jerk to Sweden in 'The Winner Is'.
The other non-member he is frequently seen interacting with is America. He considers America too hotheaded and impulsive and is intimidated by his fire power. On America's end, he thinks King EU is a wimp who deserves to be treated like a servant and also dislikes his socialist tendencies. Despite all this, they get along more often than not.
King EU is very interested in food, but is easily put off by dishes that look unappealing or strange. He refuses to even try Finland's mämmi.
